Alderney Channel Islands

Relax on the family friendly island

The family friendly island of Alderney has plenty to offer with it’s genuine hospitality, stunning scenery and many beautiful white sandy, safe beaches for the children to enjoy, whether it is building sandcastles, swimming in the sea or fishing in rock pools.

For the older child there are many places to explore, including several Victorian forts and many German bunkers. Children can hire bikes to ride around the relatively quiet streets and parents are able to give them the freedom to explore without the normal stresses of a holiday abroad.

Discover the natural island

Only 3kms wide and 5kms long, Alderney is situated just off the Normandy Coast in the English Channel.  The Island enjoys a mild climate, is unspoilt, peaceful, natural and totally relaxing. The town of St. Anne’s, with its quaint cobbled streets, lined by small boutiques, offers a great choice of friendly pubs, bars and restaurants. Alderney is renowned for its seafood, such as lobster and crab, and its excellent cuisine.

Alderney boasts a rich and varied wildlife and the Alderney Wildlife Trust actively protects and promotes this valuable heritage. The Island has become a true magnet for birdwatchers, ramblers and wildlife enthusiasts who can explore some 70 miles of tracks and walks around the Island.

The Island has a fascinating history and a visit to The Alderney Museum provides a thorough account Alderney’s past. The only running railway in the Channel Islands is also worth a ride on. The journey takes you from Braye Station to Mannez Quarry.
