This is a small midwife-led unit with 120 births per annum. They offer waterbirth pools which can also be hired for a home birth and general aromatherapy oils for massage during labour. Often described as a homely maternit unit, they have food prepared on site and mothers are encouraged to stay until they feel confident enough to go home. Ante-natal care includes a one-day NHS parent education course for first-time mothers on Saturdays. They also recommend aqua-natal classes at the Wantage Leisure Centre run by a midwife.
