The College Practice offers osteopathy, cranial-sacral therapy and Pilates programmes to help you prepare for pregnancy, childbirth and caring for a baby.

Cranial osteopaths are well-known for treating back pain in adults suffering by gently moving, stretching and massaging muscles and joints. But this holistic treatment also provides relief from a range of conditions, including migraines, IBS, sciatica, stress, rheumatic and arthritic pain, and the demands of pregnancy.

The College Practice’s osteopaths will help you cope with the changes pregnancy makes on your body, prepare for, and recover from, childbirth and treat a range of ailments in your newborn baby.

Back pain, morning sickness, heartburn, breathlessness, varicose veins, piles and headaches are some of the conditions we will help you with during your pregnancy.

Osteopathy will also help you have a more comfortable pregnancy by guiding your baby to settle in a position where they can grow without pressing against your skeleton. This also reduces the chances of a breech birth.

Caesarian sections and assisted births are also less likely if you have regular osteopathic treatments, as they help your pelvis expand unhindered during labour.

Osteopathy can also help your newborn, and yourself once you have given birth.

Retained skull compression - a common problem babies suffer from which can impair a child’s development and cause pain - can be relieved by cranial osteopathy.

Pubic symphysis dysfunction (PSD) and diastasis - serious conditions which can interfere with future pregnancies - can also be treated, as can a new mothers’ sore muscles, pelvic strain, back pain and hip pain.

The College Practice also offers studio Pilates.

Pilates - a popular fitness system - can quickly improve your physical condition to prepare your body for pregnancy, help you stay fit and healthy during your pregnancy, and help you and your partner meet the demanding physical challenges of parenthood.

To relieve aches and pains we also offer pregnancy support belts and Kinesio taping, as well as relaxing pregnancy massage to relieve anxiety and stress.
