Situated on the banks of Manchester's ship canal the Imperial War Museum North is the fifth regional war museum to open in the UK.  Clearly the themes of the exhibitions are going to be war, which is a tricky subject for children to grasp at a young age.  However, there are a number of exhibitions aimed at children throughout the year, including events for preschoolers such as storytelling and drop-in craft workshops. Open daily 10am-5pm (last admission 4.30pm).  Closed 24-26 December.  Free admission.
