Mansfield Museum

Leeming Street, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

Winning the 2011 Guardian Family-friendly museum awards, the Mansfield Museum in Nottinghamshire has an ever changing programme of children's activities.

Mansfield Museum was the brainchild of William Edward Baily, a wealthy local collector and natural historian. In 1903 Baily offered his collection to the Museum.  This was joined by a collections donated by the naturalist Joseph Whitaker and artist Albert Sorby Buxton.  In the mid Sixties a fourth gallery was added and in 1989 the 'Arcade' extension took the Museum 'out to the road', raising its public profile. The most recent addition to the Museum has been the XplorActive hands-on environmental gallery.

Mansfield Museum is FREE to visit and open from Monday to Saturday, 10am-5pm (except Bank Holidays).
