Eleven Excellent Halloween Trips For Children

Get into the spooky spirit of things this half term and enjoy some Halloween fun with your children. There are a whole manner of activities going on and up and down the country, why not see if any of these are taking place in your neck of the woods?

1.  Halloween by Day, York Maze, York

Hop on board a tractor and trailer for a Haunted Hayride through the maize maze. Visit the friendly witch in her grotto, before heading to the pumpkin patch to pick your own and carving it with the help of an expert. Scary face painting, tales in the barn and a fancy dress parade round off the day. Adults £9.50, Children £8.50

2.  Ghostly Galleon Cruise, Ullswater Steamers, Glenridding

Board the Ghostly Galleon for a two hour Halloween cruise. Enjoy a magic show, fancy dress and balloon modelling with wizard Stu-Di-Doo. Tickets £10.50 includes goody bag and refreshments.

3.  Halloween at the Ark, The Ark Open Farm, Newtownards

Come along for a fun day at the Arc. Enjoy a pumpkin hunt around the farm before visiting Lena the witch in her den. Pony rides, petting and feeding are also on offer all day long. Adults £4.80, Children £4.00, Under 3’s free

4.  Ghost Train, The Swansea Bay Rider, Swansea

Jump on board the ghost train for a spooky trip along the Swansea foreshore. The Bay Rider will be decked out in creepy decorations. Ghoulish fancy dress is strongly recommended. Tickets £4

5.  Batty Halloween Day, Wicken Fen, Cambridgeshire

Get dressed up in your scariest Halloween costume and search for some of the creepy critters that live in the Fen. Hunt for snakes, spiders and bats and learn about their homes, before heading back for some spooky art and craft fun. Tickets £4.50

6.  The Insect Circus, Jacksons Lane, London

7.  Scotland’s biggest family Halloween Party, Glasgow Science Centre, Glasgow

Come along to the GSC as it gets a spooky makeover. There will be plenty of demonstrations from animal experts as you get to meet and touch some cute, and some not so cute, little beasts. Expect fun Halloween workshops as well as a goody bag. Fancy dress is a must! Tickets £5

8.  Halloween Hocus Pocus, Dudley Castle and Zoo, Dudley

Dudley Castle has a bumper day of Halloween fun lined up this half term. Once you’re dressed up in a suitably scary outfit, children can visit the Creepy Crawley corner and enjoy a Wacky Witch disco.  There are games and shows, as well as a spooky ghost walk around the castle. 9.  Pumpkin Day, Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, Bristol
