This is a small midwife-led unit of 150 births per annum. Babies are delivered by the same team of midwives that have done ante-natal care thereby offering great continuity and support. All women who are healthy and have normal straightforward pregnancies, including a high percentage of first babies, can choose to give birth in the unit [or at home]. Over 70% of women use the waterbirth facilities as well as massage, aromatherapy and other natural methods of relaxation. They offer flexible antenatal care at the unit or in local surgeries. They also offer help with breastfeeding and baby care after the birth.
