Anything and everything you would expect in a botanical gardens: glasshouses, a Pinetum, historic gardens, a herb garden, an alpine yard plus a specific "Children's Discovery Garden". This is designed in the shape of a flower, with a willow tunnel as the stem and each petal containing interactive exhibits for hands-on learning about the environment, plants and how they grow - excellent for children 3-6 yrs. There are also events throughout the year some for children, some for adults - check the website for details. Good access for prams/buggies; there is a tea room and baby-changing facilities. Open April-September, 9am-6pm, and during the winter months 9am-4.30pm.

We strongly recommend you ring Birmingham Botanical Gardens before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for Birmingham Botanical Gardens, www.birminghambotanicalgardens.org.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket. Please also be aware that if Birmingham Botanical Gardens hosts birthday parties, this may limit the access in the cafe/restaurant areas.
