Raspberry leaf tea

Of all the herbal teas, raspberry leaf deserves special mention because of its particular usefulness during pregnancy.

Primarily it is recommended to tone the uterus in preparation for labour and birth. It is also recommended as a drink during labour, and for two to three weeks afterwards to encourage the uterine muscles to contract and return to normal. A suggested dosage is between 1 and 3 cups of raspberry leaf tea a day (made with 1 teaspoon of tea infused in boiling water). If you have trouble obtaining raspberry leaf tea, Neal's Yard and other mail order suppliers can help.

It is also recommended during early pregnancy as an aid to morning sickness, as a gargle for a sore throat; for gum disease (its antibacterial properties are beneficial here).
